Obituary for Stephen M. Bixler
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Stephen M Bixler, age 67, of Harrison Ohio, on December 22, 2019.
He was born on February 5, 1952, in Akron, Ohio to David and Dona (Jeane Clough) Bixler. Growing up in Harpster, Ohio, Wyandot County he graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1970. Serving on the Harpster Volunteer Fire Dept and farming for the Schaffers after leaving work at Plastic Film Products in Marion, Ohio where he was a certified industrial sewing machine mechanic was the way he spent his younger years. His entire life his biggest passion was racing, building motors and living in his shop.
Steve was a well-known local race car driver #51 making Lawrenceburg Speedway in Indiana his home away from home where he made many lifetime friends that he spoke of very highly. Steve had the ability to fix anything, he was a man with a strong mind and magic hands
On October 29, 1994, he married Marilyn Glacken , they made Harrison, Ohio their home. Marilyn and Steve were a match made in heaven . . . anything she broke he would fix.
Helping friends was one of his many passions if you needed it and he had it, it was yours.
What made him the happiest was his granddaughter Maddison, he was so proud to be her grandfather. She grew up in the shop with him, they built a dune buggy together and spent many weekends racing their go-carts at Lawrenceburg.
He has left many great memories with so many, near and far.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Bixler; cherished grandchildren: McKenzie, Maddison & T.J. Rigabar and their mother Kerry Rigabar.
He will be dearly missed by his sisters, Terri Farrow, Bucyrus, Ohio: Pam (Bill) Rhoad, North Augusta SC: Nancy (Floyd) DeWalt, Waldo, Ohio: Cheryl (Doug) Romeo, St Augustine, Fl and Jodi (Kip) Kline, Groveport, Ohio nieces, and nephews: Damion Killen, Jessica, and Ryan Farrow, Tiffany Scott, Dale, and Jacob Boyd and his great-nieces and nephews.
