Robert "Bob" G. Caldwell, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday February 2, 2008 at the age of 79 after a long illness. Bob raced locally at tracks like the Cincinnati Race Bowl and the Lawrenceburg Speedway, as well as the Eldora Speedway and the Little 500 at the Anderson Speedway. CALDWELL, Robert G. Age 79 of Hamilton passed away Saturday, February 2, 2008. He was born in Hamilton on November 20, 1928, the son of Leonard and Ida (Ashley) Caldwell. Bob was educated in the New Miami Schools, served with the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and was a truck driver for Beckett Paper Company. On December 1, 1961, in the Lindenwald Christian Church, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Cahalane. He loved airplanes and race cars. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sylvia C. Caldwell; two sons, Scott (Becki) Caldwell and Timothy (Tracy) Caldwell; two granddaughters, Haley and Savannah Caldwell; brother, Pete Caldwell of Memphis, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Betty Cahalane of Ocala, Fla.; four nieces, Sandra, Janet, Karen and Tara; four nephews, Karl, Andy, Rick and John. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be private. However, friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, February 24, 2008 from 1-5P.M. at the AMVETS Post #1983, 914 Ross Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Shared Harvest, 5901 Dixie Hwy., Fairfield, Ohio 45014. The family wishes to extend thank you to the staff at Tri County Extended Care and Hospice of Cincinnati. Colligan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
