Local race fan Jim Imholte passed away, suddenly, last night (2/5) in Miami Florida where he stayed during the winter months. Imzie worked as a flagman, scorer and pit steward at both the Lawrenceburg and Florence Speedways throughout the 1960's-80's. Jim also worked as a crewman for many racers originating in the Sayler Park area, including teams with Ross Smith, Pat Patrick, Big Bill Osborn, Tom Soudrette, Tommy Mattlin, Jim Bob Luebbert and many others over the years. Jim also worked on a road racing team during his time living in upstate New York.

This really saddens me. I was lucky enough to meetup with Jim several times last year at The Burg, Moler, Gas City.
Got to know a little of his past and some racin stories. Seemed like a nice man and passionate about the sport.
R.I.P. Jim, it won't be the same without ya. Take a lap on that big track in the sky for me.
