Long time Lawrenceburg Speedway supporter/volunteer Carroll Gompf passed away on Friday December 5, 2008 at the age of 95. Carroll spent many years volunteering his time at the Lawrenceburg Speedway, working for track promoters Ed Bennett, Carroll Hamilton, Craig Stevens and Mel Johnson. Carroll passed on his love of the Lawrenceburg Speedway to son Bobby, who continues to work as the Lawrenceburg Speedway safety director. Obituary Carroll Gompf - Lawrenceburg, IN Carroll Gompf, 95 years old of Lawrenceburg, IN, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at his residence. He was born Tuesday, November 4, 1913 in Lawrenceburg, IN, Son of the late Henry Gompf and the late Cora Gompf. He was the owner of Gompf Heating and Cooling . Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mary Gompf; Son, Robert Gompf of Lawrenceburg, IN; 2 Daughters, Sally (husband Andy) Priem of Seattle, WA; JoAnn (husband Dennis) Folke of Lawrenceburg, IN ;10 Grandchildren, and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Friends will be received 2 - 4pm, Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Inc., Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Services will be held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 4:00pm with Pastor Tim Russell officiating.
