Short takes feature at Lawrenceburg!
Brady Short, the driver some call “The Bedford Blaster”, blasted his way to the front and held on to win his first feature in 2010 at Lawrenceburg. It was race #3 for The Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars, and 29 drivers were in attendance trying to find their way to victory lane. 20 cars would line up in the 25 lap feature with the front row consisting of Dave Darland and Russ Harper. Darland was coming off a win the night before at I-69 Speedway, and was looking to make it two in a row in his new ride, the #39 Sprint Car owned by Goodnight Racing. Darland took the lead at the drop of the green, and Russ Harper quickly followed in line running in the runner up spot for much of first part of the race. Point leader Chris Windom had to start in the back after going to a backup car after losing an engine in the heat race. Darland paced the field for the first 9 laps as Harper faded out of the top 5, Brady Short was able to get around Darland bringing along Henry Clarke, and Casey Riggs, dropping Darland back to 4. Windom who started in the back, was able to move up to 5, but could not move up any further. Henry Clarke, piloting Keith Kunz’s #67 was fast all night, gave Short a good run, but Short was just too strong and led the final 16 laps to pick up the win. Clarke was second, followed by Riggs, Darland, and Windom. Heat race winners were Tracy Hines, Short, Riggs, and Darland. Windom won the B-main. Chris Windom continues to hold the point lead after 3 races. The Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to the track on Saturday May 22.

Daughtery wins second race at The Burg!
David Daughtery from Fortville, Indiana had not won at Lawrenceburg despite some impressive runs in the last couple times out. 35 Budweiser UMP Modifieds battled to qualify for the 20 car 20 lap feature race. Richard Luckey would start from the pole alongside 4 time and back-back track champion Jeff Harris. When the green dropped, Harris jumped to the lead on lap 1 but only held on to it for one lap as David Daughtery followed him on the high side and drove deep in turn 3 to get around Harris. Harris faded, and had to retire from the event with a mechanical problem. JD Largent another contender retired from the event after breaking. Up front, it was all Daughtery, but it was pretty exciting behind him for second on back. Brad Weick had moved to second bringing along Chuck Griffis. These two put on a show trading the runner up spot over and over until contact sent Griffis spinning out of control. Griffis was done for the night, but not happy about the incident made sure Weick knew about it but giving him a tap before pulling off the track, Weick received some damage in the incident with Griffis but it didn’t appear to hurt his car too much. With Griffis not in the picture, Wieck was able to set his sights on race leader David Daughtery who was able to drive is #00 modified any where he wanted. Weick could not do anything with him, and had to settle for second. Daughtery led 19 of the 20 laps on his way to his second career victory, but first in quite some time. Weick was second, followed by Bill Wagner, Richard Luckey, and Ted Nobbe. Heat race winners were Jason Largent, Griffis, Harris and Daughtery. Brad Weick takes over the point lead after point leader Joey Kramer was not competing. The Budweiser UMP Modifieds return to the track next Saturday May 22.
