KISS / LAWRENCEBURG CHEVROLET SPRINTS (23 cars)
Short wins second in a row at Lawrenceburg!
The King of Indiana Sprint Series made it annual stop to the Lawrenceburg Speedway for stop number 3 of the 2010 season. Brady Short, from Bedford Indiana won for the second time in a row at Lawrenceburg. As the 30 lap, $2500 to win feature went green, Jon Stanbrough and Brady Short were on the front row. Stanbrough quickly took the lead as Short followed in second. Justin Grant started on the inside of row two, got around Short for second in a just a couple laps and was chasing down Stanbrough. Grant was pedaling his sprint right up on the cushion where he was able to find the best grip to launch him off the turns. Grant caught Stanbrough and passed him for the lead on lap 5. Grant paced the field that next 13 laps, and looked as though he would cruise to his first victory at Lawrenceburg. On Lap 18, Grant bounced his car in turn 4 causing him to lose the lead, and caused damage to his hood, which would eventually force him to retire from the event. With Grant out of the race, Short who had made his way to second , assumed the lead and was able to hold on the final 12 laps to win his second in a row at The Burg, and pick up the $2500 check. Following Short across the line were Stanbrough,, John Memmer, Andrew Elson, and Casey Riggs. Stanbrough, Memmer, and Elson were heat race winners. With his second win in a row, Brady Short assumes the point lead in the Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars standings over Andrew Elson, Shawn Westerfeld, John Memmer, and Chris Windom. The Sprint cars return to the track next Saturday, May 29 for The MSCS Sprint car makeup from May 1. The next KISS race will be June 5 at Tri-State Speedway.

BUDWEISER UMP MODIFIEDS (33 cars)
JD Largent’s win popular with fans!
The Budweiser UMP Modifieds continue to put on exciting races for the Lawrenceburg Speedway fans, and Saturday night’s feature was no exception. JD Largent, the Holton, Indiana native found his way to victory lane to the thrill and cheer of the crowd in attendance. The 20 lap begin with Series point leader Brad Weick on the pole with Brady Short, doing double duty in his modified on the outside front row. Weick took the lead on lap 1, but Short was able to get around him on lap 2 to lead for a few laps. On Lap 5, JD Largent who came from the fifth starting spot, went around Short to take the lead. As Largent got comfortable up front, last week’s feature winner, David Daughtery was up to second and closing in on Largent. Joey Kramer, who started twelfth, made his way up to third and it appeared he was going to make it interesting. By this time, Largent had built up a fairly comfortable lead over Daughtery and Kramer, when the yellow flag waved to bunch the cars up. This was exactly what Daughtery and Kramer were looking for. The caution flag didn’t matter to Largent, and it certainly didn’t slow him down. As the green came back out, Largent was able to pull away and hold off both Daughtery and Kramer for the win. The rest of the top 5 was Brad Weick and Brady Short. Heat race winners were Jeff Harris, David Smith, David Daughtery, and JD Largent. The B Main winners were Sean Johnson and Steve Duty. Brad Weick Continues to lead the Budweiser UMP Modifieds over, Kramer, Chuck Griffis, and JD Largent. The Budweiser UMP Modifieds will be back at the Burg on Saturday May 29.

AMSA MINI SPRINTS (27 cars)
Barnhart gets some luck to win at Lawrenceburg!
The AMSA mini-sprints were on hand for their second race in 2010 and second at Lawrenceburg. 27 AMSA mini-sprints were at the track, each one trying to take their mini-sprint to victory lane. When the green flag flew for the 2o lap feature, 15 year old Michael Roehiling, Jr. was on the pole with Rod “Hotrod” Henning was to his outside. Henning is normally one of the quickest mini-sprints in the AMSA, and when the green flew, he was in the lead before they hit the backstrectch. For the first 8 laps it looked as though Henning would have this one all to himself. A red flag due tp defending AMSA champion, Beau Stewart flipping his mini-sprint stopped the cars briefly while track cleanup took place. Stewart was uninjured in the incident. As the green flew again, the drive chain on race leader Rod Henning broke bringing his mini-sprint to a stop on the backstretch. Following the caution fr Hennings stopped car, the new leader was Jeff Barnhart who was able to lead the final 11 laps to win for the third time at Lawrenceburg since The AMSA has been racing at the 3/8 mile Speedway. The rest of the top 5 were Kevin Roberts Jr., Kevin Roberts Sr., Boyd Wolf and Gary Loney. Heat race winners were Ryan Broughton, Gary Loney, and Kevin Roberts, Sr. The B main was won by Brandon Longworth. The AMSA’s next race is May 29 at KC Raceway. They return to Lawrenceburg on June 5.
