Memmer picks up first sprint feature win!
John Memmer, from Evansville, Indiana has been searching for that first big sprint car feature win. With Memmer running the full 2010 season at Lawrenceburg, competing for the championship, one would think a Lawrenceburg feature win was in the cards soon. Memmer didn’t need much help in this one. He started on the outside of the front row alongside Andrew Elson. After following Elson for 1 lap, Memmer used a power slide move into turn 3 to take the lead. Memmer set the pace for the remainging 24 laps on his way to his first sprint car feature win in his young career. Memmer’s win was very popular for the crowd. He took a few extra victory laps, even doing donuts on the frontstretch and the backstretch, before parking his sprint in The Budweiser Winners Circle. After celebrating with his father and crew, John took a stuffed monkey off his car and gave it to a fan in the crowd. This was the “Monkey off his back” that he had been trying so hard to get rid of. It was a special night for John Memmer and the fans as they witnessed a very emotional young man emjoying his first sprint car win. He will now set his sights on the 2010 Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint car track Championship. He is currently second in the points behind point leader Andrew Elson. The rest of the top five behind Memmer were Joss Moffatt, Chad Boespflug, Andrew Elson and Brett Burdette. It was the best finish of the year, for Moffatt, Boespflug and Burdette at Lawrenceburg. Heat race winners on the night were Elson, Moffatt and Memmer. The Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to the track On Saturday June 12, for the Mel Johnson Classic which pays $2500 to win.

Budweiser UMP Modifieds (21 cars)
Largents finish 1-2 at Lawrenceburg!
JD Largent has been extremely fast in 2010, and this past Saturday night was no exception. Largent won for the second time in 2010. The 20 lap Budweiser UMP modified feature began with Bob Burch and Joey Kramer on the front row. As the green flew, Kramer jumped to the point ahead of Burch and point leader Brad Weick. In just 2 laps Largent had made his way to third behind Burch when the caution flag flew. As the cars paced the tracked under caution, the 77 of Kramer pulled to the inside of the track and off the track as some fluid was seen coming from his car. Kramer had lost a drive belt and had to retire from the race. When the green flag flew again, Largent was able to get around Burch quickly and assert himself as the man to beat with Kramer sitting in the infield. Brad Weick was able to keep Largent in sight for the most of the race but was never able to mount much of a challenge. Instead, Wieck had to worry about JD Largent’s son, Jason who had moved to third and wanted to race his dad for the win. As the laps wound down, the battle for second was heating up between Wieck and Jason Largent. When the white flag waved, Weick went high in turn 1, as Jason Largent went low. Largent was able to take the second spot away from Weick and hold him off at the line to finish second. It was a very emotional victory lane as JD Largent and son Jason celebrated in victory lane together. It was the first time that JD and Jason have finished 1 and 2 in a feature race. Following the Largents across the stripe were Weick, Jeff Harris and Tony McVey. Heat race winners were JD Largent, Jason Largent, and Joey Kramer. Brad Weick continues to hold the point lead over Joey Kramer, and JD Largent. The Budweiser UMP modifieds return to Lawrenceburg on Saturday June 12 as part of the Mel Johnson Classic. Next week’s race will pay $2000 to win.

AMSA Mini Sprints
Henning Back in Victory Lane….
Rod Henning had dominated the AMSA mini-sprint feature a couple weeks ago, but a broken drive chain elminated him from competition that night. Henning’s car would hold together on this night as he took the lead on lap 1 and led all 20 laps. Picking up his first win at Lawrenceburg in 2010 and second of the year in the AMSA Mini Sprints. Henning was clearly the class of the field, but Ryan Broughton was able to keep the race interesting as he followed Henning in second trailing by only 2-3 car lengths. The most serious incident of the night came when rookie Nick Daughtery got together with Luke Wolff, and Wolff ended up on his side. Neither driver was injured in the accident. Daughtery was able to continue the race following the red flag delay. As the race restarted, Broughton tried his best to mount a challenge on Henning, but Henning, as we’ve seen before, was just too strong. Following Henning across the line were Ryan Broughton, Jeff Barnhart who started last, Beau Stewart, and Kevin Roberts Jr. Heat race winners were Kevin Roberts Jr., Rod Henning, and Ryan Broughton. The AMSA mini-sprints return to the track on Saturday June 12 at The KC Raceway.
