Weasel Rhodes wins first at Lawrenceburg!
50 year old Weasel Rhodes from Winchester, Ohio has been fast every time he takes to the track. Rhodes Started from the pole in the 20 lap Budweiser UMP modified feature, alongside was Pete Holt. Holt would take the lead going into the first turn and would lead the first few laps. Rhodes was able to get around Holt and settle in as the leader. Joey Kramer, who started third, also passed Holt and made a run on Rhodes, but was no match for Rhodes on this night. Holt’s troubles continued after falling back to third, he spun out, damaging his car, and was forced to retire from the race. Grace is Graceful with first win at Lawrenceburg!
Don Grace, used a late race caution flag after falling to third place to put him back up in the lead, and helped him secure his place in The Budweiser Winners Circle. Grace started from the outside front row while Matt Wheeler who was on the pole, took the early lead. Wheeler would lead until midway through the race when Grace was able to get around him and bring along Brian Litchfield. Litchfield and Pat Weber race hard for second much of the race. With the caution waving with 2 laps to go, it setup a shootout to the finish between, Grace, Litchfield, and Weber. On the next restart, Grace got into some oil, which allowed both Litchfield and Weber to get around him moving him back to third. Luckily for Grace, the caution came out when Shawn McIntosh spun, which put Grace back up front because a lap had not been completed. This was all Grace needed. He held on for the victory. Weber finished second with Litchfield, Bill Moore, and Houston Roark rounding out the top 5. Heat Race winners were Matt Wheeler, Dalton Baird, and Shawn McIntosh. Will McRoberts won the B Main. The Impact Sports Purestocks will return back to Lawrenceburg on Saturday April 23rd.
